OUR STORY
Our Story & Who We Are
Founded in the fall of 2016, Van McCollum saw a need for a choir composed of both male and female voices in the Charleston area. Armed with a vision and an ear for talent, he began recruiting voices and collaborators to build a mixed community chorus. Our first concert, Celtic Voices, was performed on March 24, 2017.
Over the years, our community group of singers has grown from just a vision to over 50 active members. Singing a variety of traditional choral compositions, we gather from September through March, with a Holiday concert in December and a Spring concert typically in March. There are selections for women’s chorus, and men’s chorus included in the repertoire. Opportunities for solo and ensemble singing occur as well.
We are also a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based on Johns Island, SC. Governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, we are supported through membership dues and contributions.
